I CANNOT stand boys my age!!!! Sexist ASSHOLES!
As some of you may know, I'm 14 years old and I just went on a backpacking trip to Philmont SCOUT (keep in mind this is Boy Scouts) Ranch, New Mexico for two weeks. Now, can anyone explain why it's fun to google over some girls butt and try to get her to "go out" with you especially if you've never even met her and from the way she talks/acts she probably has the personality of a twig? And as far as that goes, since when was it fun to compare how "hot" your girlfriend is with other people? Why the hell would you save a picture of your girlfriend so you could look at her boobs before you go to sleep?

And now that I'm done with that, since when were gay and retarded adjectives?

Excuse me, but women are not used for sex only and rock walls are not homosexual! why the hell are these kids so ignorant!?

3. Girls mature faster than boys
That's why so many girls your age date boys who are 16 or 17.

5. hoo boy. well, as a former 14 year old boy, here's the deal.
i sure hope i dont sound patronizing, but basically, i recall feeling uneasy and unsure of myself around girls at that age, and acting the way that i saw people in movies or music act (as in flirty, ogling, etc.). besides, most of them dont know what to do with their raging hormones. if i'd had a g/f when i was fourteen, i sure woulda liked a pic of her boobs to have with me...but i digress. basically, an unfortunately large percent of boys that age are just immature- deal with them maturely, and they wont know how to respond and will probably leave you alone.

Guess what? As one gets older one finds more woman do the same thing. Maybe you're an exception but it's interesting to hear women talk when they think no men are around. They can be every bit as rude and objectifying as men can.

8. Guys are jerks, LMFOC.
This is coming from a guy. My best advice? Look for the quiet, shy kid, who stares at you like he will completely fall apart if you leave his sight. He is what we call a "hopeless romantic", and he is different. Obviously, it wouldn't hurt to wait a few years, too.

Good luck! :-)

46. I think that you have the definition of "hopeless romantic" wrong.
A hopeless romantic believes in love above all else. He doesn't necessarily believe in love at first sight. However, once he gives his heart to a woman, he treats her with total respect and undying loyalty. A hopeless romantic would not show indecent pictures of his girlfriend, because that would be disrespectful. A hopeless romantic WOULD stare at his love for hours, because he/she is everything to him.

Being a hopeless romantic means that you give in totally to the emotion of love, no matter the consequences.

Was this too heavy for a 14-year-old? :-)

you just seem to be ahead of your time. more mature for your age than your counterparts rather. i was thinking the same thing as you where when i was your age (and it wasn't all that long ago). give it 4 or 5 years and a few people should catch up with you, some/most never do.

just dont start thinking like they do, i swear guys turn into idiots when they stop thinking with the head on their shoulders and start thinking with the one between their legs.

as for the adjective thing? dont mind them. they are either insecure about their sexuality to make label everything 'gay' or just lack a vocabulary to express their frustration.

if they keep calling rock walls homosexual, just tell them you find it's interesting that they are climbing all over it then, it should shut up the uptight idiots.

give it time, they seem ignorant because they haven't reached a level of maturity you have accomplished, for now, not to sound elitist or anything... but just laugh at em, cause they aren't worth taking seriously

36. As a 16 year old female
I'm sorry to tell you that most girls, unfortunately, are no better. They ogle over pictures of "hot" guys and dish over the "cute" ones in their small worlds (middle school girls are the worst, I would have to say). Utterly mindless, and, IMHO, not much better than guys comparing their girlfriends' butts. And high school is hardly an improvement.

I'm holding out for college where I hope there will be a higher concentration of considerate, mature human beings -- both male and female. Two years yet.

And as for gay and retarded, grammatically speaking they *are* adjectives. However, their meanings have been altered in ignorant teen-speech. I find their current slang use to be tasteless and demeaning and far too common.

57. As a nonpopular, voted "class brain"
in the eighth grade, avoided "popular" girls like the plague kinda gal in middle school... in middle school, from my observation, that is what most girls do. Not all, obviously, as I was and am an exception. Of course, from my fairly biased perspective, the "popular" middle school girls are certainly guilty of the actions I mentioned in my previous post. The lines blur a bit in high school, cliques seem to be less strongly defined.

I notice you harping on "personality" in your other posts, and so I pose the question: how many girls do you see out there with a "personality"? And when you say "personality" do you include "individuality" and "intellect"? It seems the girls you'd like (if these are your criteria) would be the same type of girls I would seek out as friends. Of which I only have a handful.

Because girls with a "personality" are so hard to find, most of my friends are intelligent guys who are a year and two years older than I. I think this is because there is less pressure on males to conform to a certain image -- not that there is no pressure, not by any stretch of the imagination -- and that society is more accepting of a nonconformist male than a nonconformist female. Whereas females are bombarded by magazines, TV shows and more telling them that they must be physically attractive and flirty in order to be successful (successful=attractive to men). Thus it is a rare girl who can shrug off society's expectations and develop her individuality and move beyond worrying about "fitting in" with the social norm. These are the girls, IMHO, who have the most vibrant "personalities".

Just my two cents. It's tough being this age. ;)

I have to agree with both of you...most people our age are just superficial and immature. i really didn't like middle school because i went to a normal public school, and i was definitely not a socially normal kid. i enjoyed talking to the teachers more than most of my classmates.

In college, you will find people who behave exactly the way you want: smart, considerate, and mature. But also, you'll find some of the most inane immaturity ever, mixed with some of the most cruel and heinous jokes.

But the good outweighs the bad, and it's much better than high school.

you describe are in for some hard times (relationship wise). I don't agree that they'll grow out of it, as others claim. Some never do, thus "The Man Show, Playboy, Penthouse, etc...

Women are victimized in large numbers every year because they have become 'objects' instead of human beings in our society.

Hats off to you! :toast: LiberalmaniacfromOC :yourock: Keep being respectful regardless of your peers.

56. being not that much older than you...
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 10:56 PM by PittPoliSci
and a "boy" still, I suppose...and having quite a few younger friends, here's what I can say:

Some will grow out of it, some won't.

I still have trouble curbing my nasty habit of calling things "retarded" every so often. My wonderful girlfriend is trying to phase me out of doing that, thus far successful.

As far as the "gay" thing goes, well, popular culture (i.e. American Pie stereotypes) have given young, impressionable males (though they shouldn't be permitted to see the movies without a level of maturity) the thought that if it isn't masculine, it isn't cool. Thus, the gay community, as a whole, has been stereotyped as feminine, in the eyes of these young males, because if it isn't macho, testosterone oozing bull, it obviously isn't cool. This obviously isn't fair and steps should be taken to overcome these tendencies. However, most boys, well, at least the ones I've grown to become close friends with, grow out of it about the same time the graduate from high school and start their college life.

Don't fret, there is hope. Just give these cretins time to develop into the fine young gentlemen they are destined to become. While I was never a homophobic, overly macho, insensitive jerk, with time I still became much more thoughtful and sensative, and, at the same time, noticed the kind of foolishness our society can often champion, resulting in corrective measures in my personality. Meaning, I grew up. :-)

*on edit*

I carry around a picture of my girlfriend, two of them actually, and it's not to compare her to others, it's because I genuinely love and cherish her. Not all guys use their girlfriend's photos as "proving grounds." This also, boys will grow out of.

By the way, I'm 20. I know how it felt to be a 14 year old boy in a world driven by such bizarre forces.

*second edit*

clarity issues, I think I write like a pompous asshole sometimes...

74. nonsense!
you're just "mature" :-) That's what we "older" folk like to call it. It's really quite a breath of fresh air to talk to someone "so young" that has a firm grasp on the world around her.

76. oops!
it doesn't really matter. :-p

hope i didn't offend.

But still to the point. Another lame social commentary:

In English grammar classes, teachers instruct one to use the word "him" to reference something, even if it is unsure of the gender, regardless of circumstances. I think that that is kind of archaic, and in essence, should be phased out with use of the word "her," as well. For example:

When referring to ownership, I was instructed not to use the phrase "they" or the phrase "his or hers" but rather just "his."

Maybe I'm just confused again...

78. well there you have it...
yeah, it probably should've made more sense considering the original post was about going to a BOY scout camp. I remember thinking while reading it "what on earth is a female doing at a boy scout thing?"

Meanwhile, completely ignoring the fact that I went camping w/ my girlfriend and her family last October on some boy scout event. I've never been a boy scout, so I was like, total outcast. I remember telling this kid who just earned his eagle scout status to "burn that letter that fiend ashcroft sent him congradulating him. Or take a picture of yourself burning it and giving the camera the finger...that'll send a message to Ashcroft...but you'll end up in jail..."
