Question about stem cell research...
What little I know I learned from Ron Reagan's speech at the Democratic convention. He said it might cure Type I diabetes (a bad, bad disease).

How about Type II diabetes? I've cut sweets from my diet and I have medication, but I'm still having trouble regulating it.

Thanks. :)

P.S. A good URL would be nice. I'm also wondering if it might be helpful in treating mental disorders.

2. Actually there is some Very interesting research on
a new way to cure diabetes type 1.

Apparently the Spleen is actually a repository of progenitor cells which, when properly transplanted in combination with drug treatments not only replenished pancreatic islet cells in mice but CURED them.

It is not yet certain if the resistance to insulin apparent in type2 Diabetes will see something come from this, but check these out:

3. Don't know about type II
I will try to find the link I had to the research that they did which cured mice of Type I. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Type I is autoimmune, and your islet cells stop producing insulin (since they are attacked by your own body), whereas type II is more generally an inability of the body to keep up with the demand, so that medicines that boost the production of insulin, as well as increased exercise and reduced carbs, may help. (And you may well know all this, but I'm sure some people reading this won't, and I always want to teach people about it!)

Let me see if I can get my hands on that article, and I'll get back to ya!

Oh, and yeah, I try not to get my hopes up, but then I start imagining life without diabetes.... DAMN BUSH ADMINISTRATION!!!
