LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Former disgraced Miss America (news - web sites) Vanessa Williams and her basketball star husband Rick Fox have split up after five years of marriage, his publicist said.

Fox filed for divorce from the 41-year-old actress singer and former beauty queen on Tuesday, just a week after he was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers, his publicist said in a statement.

The couple, who have a four-year-old daughter called Sasha, agreed previously to keep their property assets separate, according to court papers.

The two were wed at a high-profile ceremony in 1999, but have reportedly been separated for some time, with Williams living in New York while Fox played in Los Angeles.
