I think my Sim is dying and don't know what to do
Just started playing the Sims. Love it. I think it's really clever. I have the 4 disk delux pack and hot date which crashed my machine so I uninstalled it.

My Sim won't go to work and won't follow any commands. I click on something for her to do and it disappears. If she tries to eat, the money gets deducted and then the food disappears and she goes hungry. She's near starving, can't get her sleep, she won't go to the car pool and has lost her job. She's talking to the TV and herself, but not to her love interest. Also sometimes she disappears except for her head and hands, but I don't know if this is an unrelated problem.

Any Sims experts out there. I looked on the help section of sims.com, but couldn't find the answer.

1. Do you have an alarm clock?
Sims need that to wake up in time for work

10. she has an alarm clock
I kept her home from work one day to paint. She is really creative and likes the electric guitar and can sell her paintings for 166 Simoleans, I was trying to find a way for her to stay home and paint and live as an artist. Anyway, that's when things went haywire. She's turned into a complete freak. She pees on the floor because she won't follow my command to use the toilet.

3. Do you have Free Will turned on?
My eight-year old, a Sims expert, says to turn Free Will off, then they will do what you command them to do. I have no clue if this is right, but you can try it. She also said you can "plea to the Grim Reaper", whatever that means.

Good luck!

6. If it looks like you are going to die (grim reaper shows up to take you)
you can click on it and choose the plea button to beg to remain alive. Sometimes it works and the reaper shrugs and walks away.

15. This is heartbreaking
I created a GinaMaria Sim and a GinaMaria's husband Sim. I evicted the neighbors Bob and Betty, because GinaMaria Sim was getting closer to Bob than than her husband Sim and I wanted the GinaMaria Sim and her husband Sim to fall in love. I've projected way too much into this game to let her die ;-)

9. Read about this
I have no idea about free will, but I will look for it. I read about the Grim Reaper. He hasn't shown up yet. If he does and I make the other Sim plead for her life, the GR can ignore his request or play rock paper sissors with him for the chance to ressurrect her. It sounds very strange.

President, she'll get out of her depression.

It seems like someone is taking her money and she is getting zilch in exchange. Bush economy...

5. Have you downloaded any files for your sims?
IE: new objects, skins etc?

You may have a corrupt file on your program. I would recommend going to The Sims website and downloading Sims File Cop which will help detect and remove any bad files you might have downloaded

13. has she got any cooking skill points?
the more skill points she has the more nutrition will be absorbed and hunger will stay at bay longer. Need a bookcase to read cooking lessons.

Wanna try something really sick...hehehehehe... start of with the max amount of Adult Sims for a household. Let them all go to work for a week or so and not worry about feeding or bathing or showering, just work 'em like dogs to get the money. Make sure you keep one Sim very happy, clean and well fed. After you get a few thousand bucks, build a small pool, put all the sims you don't want to keep in it, and then remove the ladder. They eventually fall asleep in the pool, drown and turn into tombstones, but you get to keep thier cash! Course, they will haunt you the rest of the game so make sure you have an upstairs bedroom so you Sim can sleep peacefully.

20. She has 4 or 5 cooking skill points
They have an upgraded stove and fridge and a microwave and food processor and a grill. When she got into this zombie like state she set the grill on fire. She wants to eat. She thinks about burgers all the time. She will take food and then it disappears and her hunger motive doesn't improve. It's very confusing.

26. Try this. WARNING: cheating involved. Don't read this if you
don't want to find out how to cheat!

1. Hit Control, Shift, and C at the same time.
2. Type in the word "rosebud", but don't add the quotation marks.
3. Hit the semi-colon and exclamation point keys alternately. The number of times you do this will increase the amount of money you get. Do it a lot for a lot of money!

Good luck! Don't know anything about bill paying, my kid suggest you try cheatsheet.com for further tricks.

I always give my Sim a couple million, no job, lots of friends, GREAT houses, very cool gadgets and so on.

I like the new "refreshers" that are downloadable so you don't have to make them eat and sleep all the time.

17. Hey Gina!
What's up?

I used to play the Sims and isn't there something about a "fun" or "happiness" quotient? It sounds like your Sim is depressed and is basically killing itself. When they put their head into their hands, its a big sign. Are all of your Sim's motives taken care of?

Here's a site with cheat codes, if you just can't figure it out:

Edited on Tue Aug-10-04 02:27 PM by GinaMaria
no matter what I do the hunger one keeps decreasing, I have her play pinball, and the parlor game she loves, she's on the computer. She won't socialize with anyone but the tv. Her thought bubbles are weird. She thinks about herself. When I give her a command she just shrugs like she doesn't know what that is. She will sit on the couch but she won't take a nap. If I tell her to nap she scoots instead. There's no option to call a Doctor.

:hi:

Good to see you again.

24. Ugh...you may want to reinstall.
From your heading I thought maybe your Sim had G.P.D. (Guinea Pig Disease), but your gameplay sounds very glitchy, especially the disappearing commands and invisible bodies.

27. Guinea Pig Disease?
If you have the time, I'd like to hear about this Sim malady. With the disappearing body, if I go out to the neighborhood without saving and then click back on the house Her body is back. It's only happening to one of the Sims in the house. Sims.com email support is down or I'd get help from them.

I reinstalled once. I could try it again.

Last night I had her sit on the couch. She couldn't get off the couch once she was there, until her hunger motive was completely red, then she stood up and went to the center of the room and I couldn't select her. I couldn't do anything. So I closed without saving. It's almost like she had a nervous breakdown or something. She shrugs whenever I give her a command like sleep.

32. If you have a pet guinea pig in your household
Chances are good that someone (or everyone) will contract GPD after a while. It's almost always fatal. I lost an entire family once. The symptoms are small (coughing, sneezing, etc.) but it drains the energy and hunger levels of a Sim to the red. The only way to prevent it is by hanging "The Forgotten Guinea Pig" painting in your Sim's house.

It sounds to me, though, like you have a major bug. Hope you're able to sort it out! :hi:

35. Oh yes, that really sucks!
The clown cries constantly and keeps everyone awake with his stupid tricks. The only thing worse is that damn kleptomaniac mime from House Party. The sims.com has a "clown-catchers" download where a couple of Men in Black types will come to your house and zap the clown, for a price.

what a great game. You gotta love the detail that goes into it. I bought the artifacts shelves and had my Sim view it. Up popped a picture of the EA team that created the Sims. Too funny.

I've had the mime show up. I didn't see him steal anything. He wouldn't go away. I think I had to close without saving. I have to do that alot.

38. You'd love "Makin' Magic," if you don't have it already.
Lots of little idiosyncrasies, especially when a spell backfires. I love it when the rain charm backfires and the garden gnome comes to life and trashes your Sim's garden. To add injury to insult, he kick people in the shins!

Man, I need to get a life...

40. I don't have makin' magic but
my Sims are obsessed with making garden gnomes. And for some reason the gnomes explode

Here's one I just read about:

Place the Christmas tree, the plate of Grandma's cookies, and a fireplace all in the same room. Have your Sims in bed well before midnight, and Santa will appear at midnight.

33. Is there a loch Ness monster in the lake?
Damn this game is funny. I had one of my Sims drink the yellow potion from the chemistry set and it reversed his personality. I tried to get Mortimer Goth to do the same since everyone hates him including his wife, but he never made the yellow potion, just the blue one that would energize him. I got the feeling he turned his home into a meth lab. I was glad when the burgler ripped it off.

39. Best thing with the game is the downloads
there are so many great websites out there with Objects and Skins you can add on to your game.

I have an account with Sim Freaks and The Sim Resource which have a ton of great objects, especially room sets for the game. One of my sims has for her formal dress the Halle Berry's gown she wore when she won the Oscar which I got from SimFreaks

Ana & Daboo have the best skins out there.

The best free site for downloads is http://www.parsimonious.org/ EVen the links are all for free download sites.

This site also has one of the most extensive lists of Sim Sites out there: http://www.ultimatesims.com/
