I'm so frustrated!!
:grr:

The latest chapter in my job search: I get an email from a recruiter yesterday who says that a manager who had passed me over a couple of weeks ago now wants to interview me. Fine. I reply inquiring when he's available.

Today I get another email from the recruiter saying that the manager has again changed his mind about interviewing me! :grr: :grr: :argh:

OK I get it already, I'm his last resort interview. But I wonder if all these people are so much better than I am, how come he keeps coming back to me?

Days like this I HATE JOB SEARCHES!!!!!

I just had to vent, thanks for reading. Now back to your regularly scheduled year thread.

2. Thanks RV
this manager and I are only acquainted by name. We don't know each other really. But it's very annoying and I'm not sure I want to interview with him now anyway. I mean, what does that say about his management style if he changes his mind frequently?

5. Show up at the scheduled time anyway ready to wow 'em.
If the dude punks out still, you're better off working elsewhere, if he steps up and offers you the job you can either take it, or tell him you've reconsidered and walk out. Then show up Monday and report to work.

7. Heh Heh.
That would show him. :D

He's reniged on me twice now. I'm getting a not to positive impression of him now. Wierd because when I worked in a parallel dept to his, I had the impression that he was a great manager. But now, I have my doubts.

3. That
is why I've stayed on the same crappy ass job for 18 years - it's easier sometimes to stay where you're at, than to get out and pound the pavement responding to job ads, and filling out resumes and applications - I hate that crap. Anyway, good luck and best wishes.

4. Well, I would have stayed
at my previous job, but I got laid off. *sigh* In truth, I had outgrown it anyway.

Congrats on 18 years in one place. I can't imagine doing that though.

8. It's not the recruiter
Edited on Wed Aug-04-04 04:52 PM by supernova
she's fine and does a good job and has been consistent about finding things to submit me for. It's this manager with whom I would interview that is the problem.

edit: I've never had anyone play this "maybe I'll interview you and maybe I won't" game.

9. Maybe you're looking at this the wrong way because he is seeing
something in your resume that is giving him second thoughts and he has not dismissed you outright so there is a real chance that you may get the job. It's better not to form an opinion of him until you get all the facts. There may be legitimate reasons that he is waffling. Who knows whether some big cheese is wanting him a hire a relative. All sorts of things can be happening that have absolutely no bearing on you. Keep looking up.

10. You might be right
I could look at it that way. I'm getting a little short because my bank account is seriously dwindling. I can't hold out much longer.

11. It's really a good thing even if you are a "last resort" candidate...
Believe me... I see dozens of resumes (filtered from hundreds before they even get to me) when we're looking for someone, and I only interview a few. Keep it up... maybe THIS employer isn't the one, but having any bites at all means that you stand out in some way.
