it's already my new sigline - you can't see it until they turn it on though.

But Jen6 made it - she gets all the credit.

5. it was genuinely funny
It reminded me of my Dad saving a baby duckling accidentally stranded by its mother due to heavy traffic on the road. My sister INSISTED my Dad save it, lest it get run over. He was successful, dodging cars to do it. We had a good laugh and saved the little guy.

Much less happy ending than the hamster... the duckling died 2 days later despite our efforts at getting it reacquainted with the wild. :-(

9. I feel a real kinship
but a really great dad would have performed mouth to mouth. :)

I was in that situation once with two little girls eyes staring up at me: "Daddy, make it be alive." You would perform mouth to mouth too.

10. that shows what a great father Kerry was in that situation
and you know that hamster story wasn't fake, because c-span went to vanessa, and you could see she was laughing in surprise about the story.

12. I LOVED it!
Kerry is obviously an excellent father. His daughters are a testament to that. They revealed a very poignant side of John Kerry.

It was sure a sweet and a refreshing contrast to the story of Bush stuffing firecrackers up frog's nethers, throwing them up in the air and then laughing while they exploded. I wonder how many of the girl's pets Bush has dropped, kicked, run over, or carelessly discarded?

19. Yeah
Vanessa's pet hamster's cage fell off a dock into deep water. John jumped in after it, pulled out the hamster, and then saved its life with CPR. It was just an incredibly sweet story about him going the extra mile for his kids. Can't see Bush doing that.

There's a similar story out there about Michael J. Fox performing CPR on the family cat. Not a lot of dads that are THAT cool out there!

Really, diving into a lake for a hampster?
How many people do you know that would do this?
Certainly not the Chimp in Command.
Tonight, I feel like I finally know John Kerry...I always knew he was a compassionate and kind, but I had no idea that he was THIS great of a man.
I feel very proud to know that my first vote for a President (I'm 19) will be for this man.
