At the end of the David Letterman show each night, what is the gag

about where they show the red-haired lady getting a dozen roses?

It's been going on for like 6 weeks now--every night at the end of the show.

I'm a Late Show watcher, but I must've missed the origins of that.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?
