I read the article. Sounds like he's just sick of all the nonsense that goes into being an elite pro athlete and he's done with it. While I hate that we won't be able to watch him any more, I sure respect his decision. Money ain't what it's all about, folks. I just hope he finds happiness wherever he goes. It takes true grit to walk away from a fortune.

I'm glad I got to see every Miami game he played...
Some of his runs were comical; the way he ran over defensive backs after he broke containment...
But at least Miami has Shaq.... Shaq loves the limelight....

while he was playing. Phill Jackson once said that the entire Sacramento Kings squad were a bunch of hopheads.
I can accept testing for performance enhancers, because they take the playing field out of level. However, grass does not augment an athlete's performance. The league, IMHO, has no business testing for it. Ricky showed up and did his job with no real problems. Bottom line, drug testing is an invasion of privacy and the death rattle of a failed government drug war.
