riding a moped for the three and a half mile trip home, WHEN...A car came up from behind, hit me, and kept right on going.

There was instant knowledge that I was going to die. And I was thinking, "OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!

By the time I finished the third "OH MY GOD!!" I found that I had stopped flying through the air and rolling on the road, (after hitting it) and realized that I was still alive and, miraculously, relatively unhurt (scrapes, bruises, headache, broken glasses, and half my hair fell out the next day, but not bad considering).

From that experience, I think those might be my last thoughts.

I killed a guy a few years ago. I won't go into details, but I will say that the accident wasn't my fault -- there were a few witnesses, including an on-duty police officer.

Even so, as I ran back to the impact point, all I could say was "OH MY GODD!!! OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!" I watched as his blood poured out into the street and down the gutter. Changed my outlook on God, that's for damned sure.

I have long suspected that those might be everyone's last thoughts.

I've had a few dreams where I was dying and they were awful. I also have passed out a few times having blood taken and the moments before that were awful too. Regardless of what happens after death, I'd prefer to go to sleep or into surgery fully expecting to wake up. If I wake up to a new life in any aspect, that will provide a better transition anyway. Coming to after passing out is bad too. Not that I didn't want to wake up, but it is scary and disorienting.
