how can dennis miller get away with it and whoopi cant ?

*snip*

On July 15, a full week after comedian Whoopi Goldberg made what The New York Times called an "extended sexual pun on the president's surname," for which she was fired from her job as spokeswoman for Slim-Fast on July 14, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN continued to devote significant primetime attention to her remarks. As The New York Times' Jodi Wilgoren reported, Goldberg's comments came at a July 8 fundraiser for the Kerry-Edwards '04 ticket and the Democratic National Committee. Despite the flurry of media attention Goldberg's comments have continued to receive, comments made by Dennis Miller -- producer and host of CNBC's Dennis Miller -- at a Wisconsin rally for President George W. Bush July 14 drew none of the same media fire, despite the fact that, as Washington Post "Reliable Source" columnist Richard Leiby reported July 15, Miller "impl a homosexual attraction between Kerry and Edwards."

1. probably because only about 3 people care about Dennis Miller
and seeing as they're related to him, they don't count.

3. Actually, firing Whoopi may be tit-for-tat for when Rush was compelled
to resign as a football commentator from ESPN after he made disparaging remarks about Donovan McNabb being overrated. If you remember, there were lots of calls for him to be fired or to resign. Last week, Laura Ingraham, during her radio show, called for a boycott of Slim Fast in retaliation for Whoopi's statements. This is nothing more than payback for Rush's humiliation.

That's why Dennis Miller can "get away" with his shotgun humor. He's one of "them" and the repukes don't mind the hypocrisy.

The repukes have been waiting for an entertainer with ties to the dems for years. They finally got their "girl".

9. perhaps racism played a part in both
They're really two very different situations, though. Rush Limbaugh was asked to resign for allegations of racism. Whoopi was asked to resign for allegations of bawdiness.

4. Because Dennis Miller sold out to the alien lizards
Since alien lizards have no sense of humor, they have no idea that Miller is such a crappy comedian.

6. Dennis Miller's new target audience is too dense to even grasp who/what...
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 10:02 AM by bucknaked
...he's insulting.

He should have stayed on our side. He also should have known his special brand of humor would only play with the right during his "he's comin' 'round," turncoat era.

Miller, your usefullness to the right, is expent...

...now fade into oblivion, where you belong.

PS... You can't always, come home.

7. Subtlety vs. Brick to the head.
Besides, are you saying there is something wrong with homosexual attraction?
