Waterworld was on last night....

I don't see what so BAD about that movie..

I mean.... I guess it is really cheesy in a way....

The only times I've ever seen it are like on a quiet Saturday afternoon when there's nothing else on.. and you know what.. I watch it, or at least some of it, every time it's on...

What is it that is so horrible about that movie?

I mean ... as far as that "Saturday afternoon rainy day" movie feel..it ain't too bad... it's right there with like... oh.. Shawshank Redemption for example (GREAT movie)...

Not sure how I would feel if I saw Waterworld in the theatre... probably pretty dissapointed... but in the capacity I've seen it... you know you can flip the channel and turn back if you want... get up and grab some munchies or microwave a couple of White Castles.....

It's even cheesier than the theatrical release, but the plot makes a lot more sense.

13. Little details, mostly.

More insight into the Waterworld mythology, and Enola's past. A couple of scenes are switched around, and there's some extra cheesy bits tacked on at the end. I haven't seen it in a few years myself, so I don't really remember that much.

Not bad. And the 'mariner' character was somewhat interesting. It struck me as 'Road Warrior' on water. Not high art - but a good adventure movie.

10. It was a huge budget movie with a small budget feal

This is what threw the critics and the audience. After all the hype and all the investment it looked dirty and underfunded. A large part of the money got spent when Costner realised he was losing his hair and had it digitally inserted in each frame of the movie.

Its not a horrible flick. But it is not what was pitched to the producers when they went begging for money.

the Catamaran was the best thing in it. I would love to have a chance to

12. I saw it years ago...

...but I remember hating the treatment of woman in the movie. It was as though it was a "man's world" and woman had to stay in their places. When Costner's character cut the hair of the woman and girl on his boat to teach them a lesson, I almost lost it.

Aside from what I saw as its weird gender politics I was annoyed that there were no sharks in the entire movie. A movie set entirely at sea and there are no sharks.

14. The scene where the Mariner drinks his own recycled urine...

has always been a metaphor for me of what it was like to actually watch that piece of smoking horse flop.
