Poll question: What was your favorite firework as a kid?
Excluding the grown kid fireworks.

Sorry, polls are turned off at Level 3.

4. You mean lighting them in your hand and throwing them at people
...?

Advice: drunken loggers do not appreciate good natured bottle rocket wars.

6. Exactly!
And we didn't go shooting drunken loggers usually - just each other (well until a parent saw what we were doing, and by then they would break it up.)

Ahhh, teenage memories......

Fire in the hole!

And then going over the poorly translated names in a stupid stereotypical Chinese accent while sloshed on shit beer.

Good times.

7. Those are fun when thrown into water.
You have to get the timing right so you don't extinguish the fuse, but when done correctly they make these cool little submarines that dive and surface repeatedly, making big bubbles of white smoke and flashes.

10. Jumping Jacks
but only if they're thrown while lit. They make a really cool noise while flying through the air, kind of like "zweeeeeeeep".

I made it though my entire firework loving youth without ever finding a source for M-80's. Although I once found a pack of really scary gigantic firecrackers at the fireworks stand.. They were about 1" in diameter and 3" long. Does anyone know what these were? They looked exactly like big firecrackers, not a cardboard tube like M-80's. Anyway, I tried to buy them and the clerk said, "Where did you get these?". I told him they were on the shelf, and he took them and said, "These aren't for sale". So I figured the mystery M-80 source was the under-the-counter at the stands. I guess I didn't know the secret password.

11. Where's the burning schoolhouse?????
At least here in Canada, every Victoria Day, there'd be a cardboard schoolhouse with a firework inside it and on May two-four weekend (didn't call it that back then) we'd watch it burn.
