or behind?

Sports aren't played in half games!!!!

2. It happens if one team has played more than the other
One team might have 10 wins and 5 losses while the other has 10 wins and 4 losses. The second team is ahead by half a game.

3. Easy:
Team A is 50W-32L; Team B is 50W-33L. 18 - 17 divided by 2 = .5 .

4. It's because the teams have not played the same number of games
If The Tigers played 20 games and won 10, and the White Sox played 19 and won 10, the White Sox would be slightly ahead, which is expressed by calling it a half game.

I used "Tigers" and "won" in the same sentence.

Although, after the interleague games, it looks like if they were in the NL they would be a powerhouse.:D
