I don't know why I even bothered, as I love the song and I think I know the lyrics, but I was thinking about this song and decided to look up the lyrics.

NO ONE agrees on the lyrics - I swear, no two are alike, folks, grab them while you can! I was cracking up. Some of the interpretations are downright funnier than shit.

2. I used to subscribe to a Replacements fan mail list.

I remember all the wrangling and arguments over Replacements lyrics on there. There was one song that was particularly divisive, don't recall what it was. I do recall that someone from the mailing list met Westerberg after a show and asked him what the lyrics were to the song.

"What, are you kidding? I was so ripped most of the time, back then ... I'll be honest with you -- I never wrote down a lyric to a song in my life. I'm sorry, wish I could help you. Hey, but if you guys on the list ever come to a consensus, could you let me know? I get asked about that song all the time ... I'll be happy to go with what you decide!"

8. Well, I'd hope better than the bulk of Paul's solo efforts.

Though '14 Songs' and 'Stereo/Mono' aren't too bad, the stuff in the interim is uneven and, in my opinion, pretty uninspired. Maybe the rest would have squeezed something a little more exciting out of Westerberg, don't really know.
