1. I'd say about ten conciously
I can't sleep without a TV going, but the only tube in the house is in my bedroom. Don't have one downstairs.
John
Between the stereo rack and the computer, I don't need one, either.

4. Try a fan or radio!
If you just need noise, go for a radio or fan. I used to turn the radio to static and it was like a white noise machine. Add a night light if light is desired. It will save a few kilowatts.

2. Seems a lot of people say they never watch TV.
But I rarely run across one out in the big room.

5. No Sports, no sit-coms
The only thing worse than watching sit-coms is watching sports. The only thing worse than sports is baseball!

6. Since the computer era is on
Television is useless for me. Televison hasn't good information doesn't help with my duties and it's boring.
And furthermore the net, helps you to comunicate with your people around the world, its open to everyone and you can interact with your friends.

7. It's not how much but what is watched
I like old TV, British TV, old British TV, sci-fi TV yet generally not the sci-fi channel...

avoid the modern stuff like the plague, except for fresh and witty shows like Simpsons, Family Guy, The Critic (hmm, all cartoons, how odd...)
