Name me some beer companies that don't give to RW causes
Alright, is there anyway I can drink a beer and not feel guilty that I'm giving to a RW cause? My friend got me hooked on Killians Irish Red and I find out that it's bottled or manufactured by Coors! Damn!

Anyone have any good alternatives (similar reddish color, taste, etc)?

2. Hey, I don't see Sam Adams on that list...
They make a variety of really good beers... really the only domestic beer I can stand. Any clue what their political persuasion might be?

Otherwise, I'd stick to imported beers but then you have to consider the domestic distributor.

21. Dave Chappelle did a spoof on Sam Adams
Instead of Sam Adams beer, it was Sam Jackson beer. If you're familiar with his roles in Pulp Fiction, etc. it's quite funny.

'I'll have a Samuel Jackson, please.'

--cut to Dave dressed up as Sam Jackson in revolutionary war garb--

'Good motherf#cking choice, motherf#cker.'

Funny.

5. Very interesting info at that site.
Good news is that most of the recording industry donates 100% to Democrats.

12. Yeah, they're odd that way.
Most greedy corporations like to use Republicans to manipulate the US government, but the RIAA prefers to work through "Democrats" like Fritz Hollings and Howard Berman. I guess when you prefer your greed straight-up rather than mixed with ideology, you have to shop around a bit.

10. Leinenkugel is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Miller.
Up till recently owned by Philip Morris, but then bought by South African Breweries.

Next, you'll tell me that all the liquor companies/distributors are R-contributors too.

I'd better not ask...

13. If you stick with a microbrew or non-American Beer, you can't go wrong
Seriously, Microbrews are all about small businesses trying to keep afloat in a world dominated by the Super-Corporations like Coors and Anheiser-Busch. Killians Red was created by Coors in order to compete against the Microbrews. I've had it and basically it tasted like Coors with Red food coloring in it.

17. Have to agree with you, there.
And even if they are contributing to right wing causes, these local micros, they aren't exactly bankrolling the Bush* campaign. As you say, most of them are struggling to keep their heads above water, and don't have the discretionary income to support any given candidate or cause because they have to eat.

But I have noticed most of them try to keep the politics out of their promotions, and frankly, most of the local craft and microbrewed beer is leagues better than the commercial stuff anyway.

Here's a good microbrewery that ships outside Cleveland, though I don't know how far:

http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/

I don't know for a fact that the owners/operators are liberals, but the clientele sure looked like a bunch of people I'd hang around with if I lived in Cleveland.

Definately a great beer to try. I like their Tackle Box, which is a selection of four of their beers!!

25. Great Lakes is fantastic
I'm fortunate to live in a town that has such a great microbrewery. As for distribution, I've seen it as far as PA, so not too far outside Cleveland. So that's better excuse than any to have a DU rally in Cleveland!

19. Unibroue
has some wonderful stuff. They're French Canadian, and we've grown to love them. Down here, we can get them at places like Sigel's and Central Market.

http://www.unibroue.com/english.cfm

Blanche de Chambly (Chambly White), Don de Dieu (Gift from God), Fin du Monde (End of the World), Maudite (the Damned) are all yummy!

The Ephemere is not as good.

I don't see any truly evil distributors on their list.
