It's a 4 in 1 entertainment center (turntable, cd player, tape player, radio) in a fake walnut case for $100. My turntable's broken and my albums are all of the 'bought used' variety, so getting a high-end turntable isn't exactly necessary. I might be the only person for whom this little piece of crap might be the appropriate equipment. On the other hand, I've never been happy with any cheap stereo I've ever bought (well, maybe a Panasonic during high school) and I can't imagine I will be with this one. Cute, though, don'tchathink?

1. looks cool to me
I'm 25 years old, my father gave me all his vinyl albums when I turned 21.

And I've never seen a actual turntable in my life. :D

I'd check it out, but all the K-Marts closed down in my area.

2. how about just buying a turntable?
radio shack has them for about 100 bucks, same as you'd spend on that integrated thing... if you have an existing stereo, then a new TT is the way to go.

5. Existing stereo is a major problem as well
Thinking of deeding it to the girlfriend and seeing if it works better at her place. This isn't as crazy as it sounds, but the reasons aren't interesting enough for me to go into detail.

8. at least check out what they have somewhere else
like I posted earlier, Radio Shack has one that identical (except the shape of the speakers) but they also have lots of MCD systems. Maybe for just a little more cash you can get something that, should one part fail, the whole system isn't junk leaving you out 100 bucks.

3. My parents bought one from the PX
They like it a lot. It sounds ok for what it is, and the turntable is a plus. If I remember correctly, it even plays 78's.

9. And you've already surfed e-Bay for non-piece o' crap bargains?
I mean, - seriously, - you could pick up something nicer on an e-Bay auction. Especially if you're not in a hurry and can afford to wait for the right item to come along.

10. If you've got the $100, I say go for it!
But then again, I'm a musichead and as such hardly an objective observer!

12. Gosh, I wish you hadn't posted this, now I want one
I too have several boxes of vinyl records and no turntable. K-mart huh?

I don't thing I'm going to be too upset if my scratched collection of 70's rock isn't played at the highest audio quality. And it IS cute.

13. Thanks for the idea
I have tons of vinyl and my old stereo died. I bought a new one; I didn't think to look for a phono port. Guess what , it's got TV ports, DVD ports , video in ports, CD ports... and not ONE of them works with the turntable I have.

This thing would go with the antiques and sit on the cabinet; it may be the answer :)
