Fight Over Parking Spot Leaves Man Dead

An argument over a parking spot at a late-night restaurant erupted into violence that left an Addison man dead, his older brother seriously injured and a Chicago futures trader facing murder charges, DuPage County authorities said Thursday.

Troy B. Kindt of Glen Ellyn, a stocky, 245-pound trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, is accused of beating Nickolaus Artman to death about 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Addison.

Kindt, 33, and a companion argued with Artman, 24, over a parking space in the lot at El Burrito Tapatio restaurant, but Kindt and his friend left in Kindt's sport utility vehicle, officials said. They returned to the lot a few minutes later, and Kindt left his Lincoln Navigator and attacked Artman, DuPage County State's Attorney Joseph Birkett said in announcing charges against Kindt and his friend, 30-year-old Louis Battistoni of Elmhurst.

As Artman tried to defend himself, his older brother, 26-year-old Anthony Artman, rushed to help, hitting Kindt once in the head with a large metal flashlight, Birkett said. Battistoni then confronted the older Artman and took the flashlight away, Birkett said.

2. I thought I was going to find

myself in a similar situation at the Mall of America a while back. I was waiting for a parking spot to open up. I let the person back out and I pulled in. As soon as I did out of the corner of my eye I saw a sedan whiz past with horn blaring and a woman shouting profanities at me. It seems that she thought the spot should've been hers. Thankfully that's all that became of the incident.

5. I hate parking lot fights! They are incredibly stupid!!!

Jeez, there will *always* be another space sooner or later.

I used to blow my cool in traffic and parking lots, but I've left all that behind.

As matcom's post all to sadly shows, life's too short.

He didn't kill anyone but he was arrested for a fight over a parking spot while covering the Fla. recount in 2000.

7. We had a "wedgie murder" here

I think the murder was last year sometime but the trial was last month. The reason for the murder didn't come out until the trial but the victim was giving people wedgies in a bar. I think he knew the people he was doing it too but one guy's friends egged him on into fighting the guy and at some point he pulled a knife and disembowled the wedgie giver. The story is more than a week old so I can't link to it.

Crazy world. Dumb enough to give wedgies in a bar even dumber to kill some one over it.
