1. Who would have thunk my Reds would be tied with the Cubs
in the standings this late in the season. I'm watching the Reds vs. Rangers right now....not looking good for us right now down 3-1 in 7th....maybe Griffey will hit no. 500 and win it for us!!!

Go REDS!!!!!!

6. Rusch (Chi) vs. Oswalt (Hou). I'd say the edge is with Houston.

8. On paper, yes
But mentally, the Cubs are in better shape now than the Astros. The Astros are in a huge slump as a team, and are just barely hanging on to a thread of momentum - which would be snipped in half by the scissors of a four game sweep at home. The Cubs, on the other hand, are riding an emotional high and have won their last five games, and are in damn good shape in the Central, even with their horrible bout of injuries so far.

Glendon Rusch has also been hot and is pitching much better than his numbers indicate (he was pulled early out of many games due to pitch counts, and consequently, his ERA is inflated). Roy Oswalt is traditionally the Astros' ace but may feel incredible pressure to pull a win out of the magician's hat to keep the Astros alive.

So far, the score seems to indicate all of that :)

10. I watched the pre-game
Steve Stone said Oswalt would get in trouble in the middle innings because he just had 2 cortisone shots and would have trouble keeping the ball down. Well, guess what happened.

It is easy to mock Steve Stone, but that man knows so much baseball. I am in awe.

9. My family has supported the stro's since they were the
Colt 45's. When I was a little girl we used to go out to the Colt 45 stadium and fight the mosquito's in order to root for our team.

Every night up until she died, my Mom kept the boxscores in green notebooks. I made a promise to her when she died that if the Astro's ever won the World Series I'd lay a flower blanket in the Astro's colors on her grave where she could celebrate in style too.

11. Four-game-sweep-smack-laid-down
First time since 62 in Houston for the Cubs. Astros will get healthy, so it is good that the Cubs are putting as many losses on them as possible right now.
