Peru Hit By Prostitution Scandal
<snip>

LIMA, Peru (Reuters) - Peru's opposition called on Monday for Agriculture Minister Jose Leon to quit and Congress opened an investigation after reports a hotel owned by the minister's family procured teenage prostitutes for guests.

Brothels are illegal in Peru and Leon, who said he was surprised by the reports, denied the hotel was involved. Any pimping was done by cleaners who had now been fired, he said.

"I agree with the investigations that have been carried out and thank them because they have alerted us to what was going on," Leon told RPP radio.
