I read all of the books at least 4 times. He embodied Lestat, and captured his morbid off center sense of humor.

I've always thought that Julian Sands should have played that character.

the character. I also think Sting would have been good. He could have handled the rock star part too.

13. I thought so too

before I saw Cruise. I think Sands would have done well too, but I have to give props to Cruise. I was more skeptical than Anne Rice when I found out Cruise was cast, but after watching his performance, I was startled at how much he seemed to be Lestat. In retrospect, Sands may have been too dry to play the character, which required some weird off center humor and intensity, that Sands isnt as well suited for as Cruise proved himself to be.

Cruise played the character a little over the top but nonetheless fairly true to the book.

Townsend had Lestat's arrogance down but that movie just plain sucked. Biggest disappointment I had with a book movie since Hannibal.
