Does anybody else miss Bill Maher and "Politically Incorrect"
I thought the show was good because of its openness about a variety of topics. He was good about upsetting both liberals and conservatives. My favorite shows were in 2000 during the election when he had candidates from the different parties like the Greens, Libertaians, Reform, and Socialist. The reason given for not having Bush or Gore was that both campaigns said that they would have to prescreen all questions. Something Phil Donahue also complained about.

I think Bill also angered both major parties with his logo suit. Poking fun about how both parties are bought by major corporations.

7. Huh, wha? Maher and Ann Thrax?
I know they're friends and he says way too kind things about her, and that he'd shtup any woman who wasn't married to him. It's not that surprising. But did you hear something specific about them?

2. Maher is a wolf in sheep's clothing
He supports the war in Iraq. He is an ivory tower liberal, and a qualified one at that. He is really a grab bag, but his money and his ivy league arrogance poke out at uncomfortable times.

I think he is more hateful of everything than reasonable. His support of a clearly illegal war is all I needed.

5. He's also sexist as all heck
He called Tail Hook "boys being boys." Every single guest on his show that night -- male and female -- told him he was wrong. Another time he suggested that women don't have the right grey matter to understand math and science. I stopped watching him.

3. I enjoyed that show.
There were often some interesting discussions, and even though Maher could go too far, it was good to see someone who wasn't afraid of pissing someone off. Unfortunately, it was also the first place I saw Anne Coulter.

8. I don't miss him.
He used to have some runs of good shows, maybe two or three in a row, that I would really enjoy, the kind you're talking about, when he was really mean toward Bush and Republicans and I felt like I might miss something if I didn't tune in. But then he'd have a string of shows about "the battle of the sexes." :eyes: Or he'd have on yet another African-American beauty from the Republican party, doing the GOP's "compassionate conservative" propaganda work for them. :eyes: But I really couldn't stand him anymore when he started tossing around the phrase, "That is so September 10th" to anyone who brought up the rude subject of Bush's illegitimacy. I stopped even checking in after that. I stopped missing him before he was even gone.

9. I wasn't a huge fan of the show...
... but it certainly beats 90% of current-events-driven TV today.

As an interesting side note, I saw the taping of the 9/10/01 show in person. Something that I always remember 'cuz of how the world completely changed about 12 hours later.

10. I do I had a blast watching him.
That show was just too cool I got pissed off when they took him off the air. I would go for a walk about a half an hour before the show and always made it in time for the start. Never missed it.:toast:
