"Pirates of the Caribbean" fans: question for you!
You know that scene where Comm. Norrington is proposing to Elizabeth on the battlements and she faints from the corset and falls into the water? Capt. Jack jumps in to save her. We see her floating down, with the doubloon around her neck lifting up, and there's a mysterious thump as of a shockwave and ripples in the water and one of the redcoats asks the other "what was that"? and the other one doesn't know.

Neither do I. What the hell was that all about?

5. But, wouldn't the soldiers KNOW what that sound was?
Both Commodore Norrington and Jack Sparrow have scenes in which they recognize the sound of cannonfire.

3. That's what I think
When the medallion touched the sea it called the Pearl. Notice as soon as this happens the weather makes and abrupt shift and the wind changes direction.

the song they play somewhere in there around that scene is called 'the medallion calls' (she also has listened to the soundtrack, over and over and over). so it makes sense.
