Discussion of Iraq war at redneck bluegrass hog roast pickin' party...
Here in the deep South, last night at a wonderful bluegrass pickin' party, my young Army Reserve cousin, just back from Iraq, said "we should never have invaded the place. We should get out immediately. I did my own survey while I was over there doing street patrols and 91% of them do not want the democracy we speak of, hate America, and we are just blowing a lot of money over there. The first two months I was there they gave us 2 little bottles of water a day in 130 degree heat and 2 small meals of MRE's that were full of preservatives and not much nourishment. I lost 30 pounds. Halliburton was cooking some very good meals for someone, but I never had a chance to eat one of them." Then when we got home from the party, my husband said that one of the pickers there had said that these corporations who are laying people off in masses, are just making the ones left behind work that much harder in fear of losing their jobs while they cover the work of the ones who left. We knew this is the reason for the great "productivity" *bush brags about as a cog in his economic recovery wheel, but not sure the other rednecks were understanding it. This fellow's brother works on the navy base and reported that all the money for defense is being sent to Iraq and there is no money left for the normal programs or new programs to defend us against future problems. All interesting night. I didn't hear one person say "Thank God we have a strong leader..." Just wanted you to know what the "Deliverance" people are thinking. Many bright people there, with funny stories told around a campfire. Wonderful music, too!

I would have loved to be there. There's nothing better than good blue grass. Glad to hear the folks are putting 2 and 2 together.

On edit: How did the roast hog taste? Man, am I jealous. :)

10. Young, wild hog. It was all fantastic. Also big shrimp shish-ke-bobs
and fried grouper. Home made sausages and all the trimmings. Also vegetables. One lady was a Cuban who came to the US with her parents as a child made a flan. What a treat.

3. Good to hear, thanks.
America(as a collective conscious) seems to be finally waking up. She was sorely missed.

4. Yeah
She was sorely uninformed. Most people will do the right thing if they have the right information.

5. Thanks for the encouraging words
I lived in the DC area when it claimed to be the bluegrass capital of the world. I went to several bluegrass festivals that were a lot of fun. The Seldom Scene was my favorite group.
