how to get to Montreal from Western Mass?
Does anyone have any experience getting to Montreal from Western New England? I'm about half an hour north of Springfield, MA, so taking I-90 west to I-87 north seems a bit out of the way.

Is it best to do the interstate(autoroute)-only route, i.e., I-91 to A-55 to A-10? Or am I better off going I-91 to I-89 to (various Quebec two-laners) to A-35?

Or something else?

Thanks!

2. quick, I suppose.
The route through the lake would be scenic, though.

poutine
I think the "heartburningLy" was a bit redundant to describe "great poutine." Yum! There's no other way to do it.

4. come on over to NY
through Bennington to Troy and catch the Northway -take it all the way to the CAnadian border. You'll be driving through the Adirondacks. It doesn't get much quicker and it is really beautiful! Say bon jour to Montreal for me, I love that city!

6. Scenic Route, and rather efficient
Take 91 N to Exit 6 in VT, Route 103 West (or north I can't remember, but obviously it's one of those 2) pay careful attention when you come to the first town, there's a right turn you cannot miss. After that, just stay on 103 past Okemo ski resort, till you get to Route 4, Take that North (or west - just bear right) up 3 miles and follow it through a left turn. Drive to Route 22A, take this north as far as you want.

You're on your own from here.

9. we're still working on the details
A few of us decided we needed to go somewhere for the weekend and settled on Montreal, since it's not too far. I'd like to see the Expos play before they move off somewhere else, so we might go to the game on Sunday.

We're also looking for a museum, and probably a jazz club Saturday night. who knows what else...

Too bad about the 700 club; it'll be over soon. Terry Meeuwsen was getting a little feisty while I was there.

I guess Pat hasn't been... um... meeting her needs as well as she'd like.
