American Idol - is it really as rediculous as it looks?
Edited on Wed May-26-04 08:19 PM by nu_duer
I'm watching (for the first time) but with the sound down and Steely Dan on. I swear I just saw an updated version of The Brady Kids. Please tell me they weren't singing "Sunshine Day."

4. I was just telling a friend on IM that I ran across it channel surfing
Be VERY glad your volume was down. They were singing Manilow tunes, and singing them horribly. I feel the need to shower, or puncture my eardrums with an icepick after hearing that crap :puke:

I watched it tonight (to punish myself apparently). They were all bad and I hear that they were the finalists from thousands of contestants? YIKES

7. yes, it's crap...we all know that.
the scary part is not the poor quality of the music, but rather the fact that 65 million people voted in the final round.

i wonder if we'll get that many people to the polls in november.

8. I thought exactly that as I watched
If only we could get that many people to give a damn about what happens to their country :(

9. i can't watch that show
it is sterile entertainment marketed to walmart america --

it reminds me of "star search" -- the show of my childhood that initiated my hatred toward talent searches -- precious child prodigies belting out horrible show tunes like fingernails on a chalkboard - get shivers up my spine just thinking about it -- ed mc mahon has simply been replaced by paula abdul, that's all

stay away from american idol-- it's bad for your health

just my opinion

10. We've already had the "I'm too cool to watch American Idol"
thread earlier this morning.

I did a lot of punching through the two hour build-up, but that last song that Fantasia sang was filled with such emotional power that one would have to be made of stone not to be moved by it.

Start a thread with what I think is a "shareable" thought, and it turns out someone has already done it (and Matcom at that).

Sheesh, its embarrassing, you know?
