When I worked in medical research, one of my lab supply contacts gave a Far Side T-shirt with every $250 of supplies purchased. I accumulated about 15 shirts! Far Side is very popular with lab rats!:-)

"The Illustrated History of the Far Side" is a lot of fun, because it includes all the hate mail and complaints he got, too.... Hard to believe how easily offended people are!

21. The man is a genius.

I'm a fan of the maestro one as well.

I have a ton of favorites. When I left for college, my dad framed one that showed a stupid-looking kid sitting in a barnyard with a shotgun. The caption read "Misunderstanding his dying father's advice, Ernie spent several years guarding the family mules."

I don't know why it's so funny to me, but it is!

And one more. The multi-paneled one where a caveman sees a bird flying, then waves his arm frantically trying to imitate the bird. He then begins to build something, and in the final frame you see him holding a bow next to a dead bird stuck with an arrow. He has fantastic insights into human nature.

15. The missile silo is best

There's a guy bent over looking into a big hole in the ground. Some kind of vapor is coming out of another hole. There's a sign nearby that says something like "missile range, keep out."

The caption: "Never, ever do this."

A Husband Rat, sitting in a filthy apartment, while his Wife Rat looks on....He says "What do you mean?, it looks like a Rathole?..It IS a Rathole!

Other One:

An Alien spaceship has landed....the Captain and his crew are at the top of the stairway that leads from the ship. One of the crew has obviously tripped while going down the stairway and is laying in a heap at the bottom....
The Captain says: "Oh Great!..Just Great! So much for impressing them with our Superior Intelligence!"

The scientists standing around a table with a duck on it. They are about to pour some liquid from a beaker on to the duck's back. On the board behind them one of them is recording the results:

Milk off a duck's back
Water off a duck's back
Acid off a duck's back

My favorite is with two cavemen peering into a big pit-trap...

One caveman says "We caught a big one Thak!" and as he gestures with his hands he is knocking his friend down into the pit.
