HELP! I'm getting into "The" bands.

I've fought it for the last two years. I tried not to buy into the hype, but first I came down with The Hives. Two weeks ago, I bought The White Stripes CD. Now I'm listening to The Vines and enjoying it! What's next? The Shins? The Black Keys? The Libertines?
Is there any hope for me?

PS- I still hate the Strokes, so it's not totally hopeless.

I am a bit out of the loop these days, but aren't they a band that is getting to be a "The" band?

I somewhat liked the original "The The". But the Korean one is pretty lame.

4. There's really little common thread between most of them....

..at least from what I've heard of them.

I just find the White Stripes to be completely overrated and insufferable.

Regardless of the bogus "indie cred", some pea-brain in a boardroom decided the White Stripes were talented.

8. I think the White Stripes...

...are talented, I just don't really feel like buying their records. But I'm sure I would if I were in high school, and the same goes for Jet. I am kind of bored by The Strokes and The Vines, though. But seeing as how I'm 26, I guess I'm kind of past it. At least I have another 24 years before I have to like Norah Jones.

10. I mean don't get me wrong....

I do think it's hysterical that a band with next to no talent, playing music influenced by obscure garage bands and delta blues, has sold a million records. But to herald them as some sort of talented visionaries is just absurd.

Besides, I like the same shtick done better by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion or the Gibson Brothers or other similar acts.

16. They're not visionaries, but their stuff is catchy as all hell.

The red/white brother/sister theme is pretentious as all hell though; and Jack White is another one of those "I hate being a rock star" type rock stars.
If you don't like it, then quit. I'd be glad to take Renee Zellweger off your hands.
