Let Me Recommend A Good, New, Rock & Roll Band To You All
Franz Ferdinand.

They're an English band whose album I just picked up last week before a road trip I had to take down to Maryland.

I listened to the entire album multiple times on the way down there and back and it kept getting better every time I listened to it.

Some tracks actually sounded (and this may be blasphemy) like they came off a Beatles album. They're that good.

On an album with 11 tracks, about 8 of them were great songs. Amazing, amazing band.

Their current single is called 'Take Me Out.' Listen for it, then buy the album ($13 at Best Buy). You won't regret it if you like good, solid rock & roll with no garbage filler.

2. I heard them back in March.
They were definitely the "IT" band of South by Southwest. They live up to the hype, though.

7. They played live!
However, I didn't go see them. There was a conflict with another band I wanted to see. But everyone was talking about them, even the industry people, so I gave the CD a listen and bought it.

3. Always happy to check out a new band
You can't rely on radio these days (unless you have a good college station near you). Thanks for the heads up.

6. Just downloaded "Take Me Out"
They are certainly Kravitsing a bit with the Beatles thing, a bit of U2 coming from the drummer.

maybe it'll grow on me.

8. it will
If you can find more of their stuff, give it a listen...there's more Beatles-esque stuff on their other tracks.

10. Not bad...
But I think I'm gonna pop in the YES 35th anniversary collection and dig on some Siberian Khatru and South Side of the Sky...

Followed by a heaping helping of Pink Floyd!!!

11. I think they're actually Scottish.
I agree, though -- I get a charge out of them. Read interviews, if you can find them -- they're witty and funny guys, too. The Brit magazines (Q, Uncut, Mojo) have been pushing them for months, so they've done lots of interviews -- might be something in Magnet, too.
