Read the actual CAPTION (strange looking pic)

An Iraqi with a prosthetic hand listens as U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites) speaks in the Oval Office May 25, 2004 to a group of seven Iraqis who all had their hands cut off by Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime. The seven Iraqis have all received medical treatment and prosthetic hands in the U.S. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque

1. I thought it said, "An Iraqi prosthetic hand listens..."
It looks like a still from a Hitchcockian movie. There's something in that hand! :o

3. holy crap!
I saw this story about the Iraqi's who were brought to the US for medical treatment and the first thing that came to mind was, chirst almighty, we can fly seven people around the world for treatment but 1/3 of American's (if not more) don't have access to any health care right here in their own cities and towns? - :wtf: is going on here....

6. For some reason, this really made my blood boil!!!
He'll acknowledge people who were maimed by SADDAM; what about all the Iraqis (and U.S. soldiers) who have been maimed by YOUR unnecessary war, MISTER BUSH?????

9. "An Iraqi who was sodomised with broom handles by US troops.....
is still unable to sit down in order to listen to anybody, but has yet to receive the good fortune of a flight to America and reconstructive surgery...."

:eyes:

I mean OK, don't knock the help given to these poor bastards, but the words "token effort" spring to mind, closely followed by, "photo" and "opportunity".

7. That came to mind last night during the speech
HE spoke of rebuilding the Iraqi infrastructure (which according to many reports has ground ot a halt) and schols and "they (terrists) don't build hopsitals we do" type of quotes and I thought 'Wow sounds great how about trying that here'.

10. I saw the story about these guys.
Edited on Tue May-25-04 10:12 AM by Career Prole
bush* is using these seven guys who lost their hands to saddam as a some sort of sick proof that we're really the good guys.
So when does he plan on replacing the thousands of limbs blown off by his stupid war? The story never mentioned that.
What a crock of shit.

Edited to apologize for getting pissy in the Lounge. Just caught me before my first coffee... :)

From the camera angle, looks like they got the ones that slipped by Inspector #12.

17. No, they ALL got prosthetic hands with thumbs......
but they disagreed with Bush's policy on the handover of power so he chopped them off....

"See! We're not as evil as Saddam! We only chop off prosthetic thumbs!"

You took Chubbs' hand!

Don't worry about that - it's made of wood, real sturdy...

Does anybody else think that it looks like a left hand that they've attached upside down to the right wrist?

Like when you're trying to decide to do what you want or not . . . and like my dad said, 'Numbnuts? You take a shit in your right hand, and you grab your wishes in your left. Then see which one weighs more.' . . . I mean, how can you expect to get an accurate measure? . . ."
