CRIME: Woman allegedly stabs brother over 'stinky socks'

ST. PAUL - An argument over smelly socks apparently led a St. Paul woman to stab her brother to death, authorities said.

Vanessa Dayle Joseph, 49, met police officers in the front yard of her building early Wednesday and directed them to the basement apartment she shared with her brother, Harvey Maurice Joseph, 53.

Police discovered him lying on the floor of the living room with a single stab wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Vanessa Joseph was charged with second-degree murder on Thursday. According to the complaint, she stabbed her brother during "a dumb argument about stinky socks."

He doesn't live with me, so I'm not tempted to do violence to him. Too bad those two didn't live in separate domiciles.
