A-Rod coming back to Arlington this weekend.
What kind of reception will he get? Will he fail miserably, or will he destroy what is becoming Texas's suspect pitching? Any metroplex DUers going to Ameriquest this weekend?

1. When did the Ballpark become Ameriquest?
I was listening to a game last Monday, the 10th, and it was The Ballpark. Then I listened to a game on Wednesday, the 19th, and it was Ameriquest. :wtf:

2. It's been a couple of weeks now
Hicks sold the naming rights for I believe 10 years at $75 million. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong with those figures.

The Ballpark in Arlington, the venue where Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers play, will be renamed Ameriquest Field in Arlington.

Ameriquest Mortgage Co., a subsidiary of Ameriquest Capital Corp., has reached an agreement with the Texas Rangers baseball franchise to acquire the naming rights for the ballpark. The 30-year deal is worth about $75 million, according to local reports.

A news conference announcing the name change was expected to be held Friday.

The Rangers and Orange, Calif.-based Ameriquest Mortgage, a specialty lender, reportedly have been trying to hammer out a naming rights deal for the ballpark for months. Among the issues that needed to be settled: the selling price, contract term and termination options.

The Rangers also wanted to keep "Arlington" in the name, reports said. The Rangers are owned by Southwest Sports Group, an entity headed by local investor Tom Hicks, and Southwest Sports leases the stadium from the city of Arlington.

4. Sigh...
...The Ballpark in Arlington was stupid, but at least it wasn't a brand name.

5. Think Hicks is running out of money?
Wonder who Jerry will sell his new stadium to....provided he can get enough people in Dallas County to kiss his ass and agree to his tax increase to build it.

6. Hi, Rhiannon, and welcome
You know everything is for sale when it comes to Jerry.

And yes, Tom has been floating large payrolls in both hockey and baseball. He's losing money in the sport's franchise business, and selling the naming rights is a way to recoup some of that loss.
