Cats blamed for starting Kan. house fire

5/21/2004, 7:24 a.m. ET

LIBERAL, Kan. (AP) — While their owner was away, two cats did play — with fire. Liberal Fire Department investigators said a pair of cats started a fire inside a small southwest Kansas home by jumping onto a stove. Apparently, one of the cats ignited a burner by stepping on a push button.

2. I can see how that could happen
Fortunately, the worst things our cats have done (yet) are walk on the computer keyboard and type qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqnnnnnnn23423 and step on the TV remote and change the channel!

3. The cats in question survived, of course!
I'm telling you, they're up to something!

I expect they're working on a list of demands... hence, the typing attempts and TV remote experiments!

10. My Carmine changed the setting on my clock radio
by stepping on the buttons in the correct order he could change the time the alarm was set by an hour...or 4. O8)

They know the news is always awful - they don't want you to read it. I really do think there is "more passing in their minds than we are aware of."

You just can't trust cats as anything but fricassee! Maybe as a stew. IMHO the safest way to deal with cats involves explosives.
