"Angel" fans: Final episode is tonight.
Edited on Wed May-19-04 12:11 PM by Angelus

Here is the preview of tonight's episode:

Not Fade Away

"Angel & Company spend the day as if it were their last as they prepare to bring down the evil Circle of the Black Thorn. Putting their lives on the line, Spike confronts a demon cult, Lorne faces off with Lindsay (Guest star Christian Kane), Gunn takes on an evil senator and Angel battles Hamilton (Guest star Adam Baldwin), the henchman of the Senior Partners."

There is an article on CNN.com that goes through an interview with "Angel" creator Joss Whedon and David Boreanaz. It also talks about the series finale. The article can be found at this CNN.com article.

There's some interesting things that are stated in the article about the series finale, such as: "At least one major character meets a grisly death. Another decides fighting the good fight is no longer worth it."

What are your thoughts about what was stated in the article? Also, what are your thoughts about the series finale? I'd like to hear them if you have them. :)

"Angel" will be on at 9PM EST/8PM CST on your local WB network.

I'll keep this thread kicked throughout the day so people who come on the DU in the afternoon/early evening can see it.

5. I am more sad about this than I was at losing Firefly
And I LOVED Firefly.
I've been with the Whedon-verse since the first episode of Buffy.
I will miss Angel a great deal.
Now all I have left is Smallville. It is no substitute for Angel, Spike, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, and Fred.

And Sarah Michelle Gellar was the reason it was canceled.

29. I know
But it was The WB that refused to renew Buffy, forcing the move to UPN.

And I wouldn't blame Sarah so much for Buffy's end -- an hour-long drama ideally needs to run for at least 7 years to make it most desirable for syndication. Considering the quality of Year Seven compared to the previous six, I'd say it'd ran its course.

33. Um...
I believe (though I won't swear to it) that UPN outbid WB for Buffy. WB wanted to keep Buffy but at the same cost they were getting it at. UPN offered something better and they went there.

36. Not so much outbid...
...as The WB refusing to pay what Mutant Enemy was asking for it. So it was then "cancelled" by The WB, and UPN stepped in.

And just wait, SMG and David both will be pitching ideas to Joss about further works in the Buffy-verse.

51. I'm not wishing it him at all...I love the guy too
But look at the films he's managed to make -- Valentine (a cheap slasher film) and the latest Crow sequel. Even SMG had a better resume than David before Buffy was over...however crappy it might be.

(She did turn in one excellent role, but I can't remember the film's name at the moment. It's the one where she kept coke in a necklace...)

46. saddest. episode. ever.
Okay...not really, but pretty close.

I'm glad to find there are some other "Angel" fans lurking amongst my fellow DUers. As a huge fan of this show (and "Buffy"), I'm pretty pissed to see that it's over.

My biggest gripe about last night's episode was that smug little "thank you" that the WB tacked on at the end. What a load of shit. They cancelled "Angel" the day after it hit 100 episodes (just enough for syndication) and then ignored all fan efforts to save the show, despite better ratings than ever.

But surely they must have something good to replace it on the fall schedule, you say. Well, in Angel's timeslot next year, you can see such instant classics as "Blue Collar TV" (a sketch comedy show with Jeff Foxworthy) and "Drew Carey's Green Screen" (a rehash of "Who's Line Is It Anyway" performed in front of a green screen).

Hmm...with such cutting-edge shows in the fall lineup, you have to wonder how the WB isn't the #1 rated network.

assholes.
:grr:

47. Add on to that...
The Dark Shadows reworking (it's by the original creator, so it's not exactly a remake, imo) that many people felt played a part in getting Angel canceled is NOWHERE on the Fall schedule.

(Neither is the Lost in Space remake, but that's a different story.)

49. I watched the final episode tonight...
I hated it.

I hated the fact that they killed Wesley. I hated Illyria (OK, I hate the fact that she's Fred but that's only one gripe). I hated the fact that Harmony betrayed Angel (though I can understand it).

And you know what I hated the most?

I hated the fact that I loved it.
