Music geniuses: Identify this song!
Okay, I could disguise this as some kind of contest or trivia, but the truth is I heard this song on the radio and really liked it and was too stupid to stick around to hear the title or artist. Be warned: I have very little information. It's almost as bad as that Married with Children episode where Al tries to identify a song with only the line "<hmm hmm> him..." Man, that was funny. But I digress.

Here's what I've got. The chorus says something like, "I'm going down to Louisiana," or "I'm gonna die in Louisiana." ("Louisiana" sounds more like "Looziana.") The singer is female and it's a slow song. That's, like, all I know about it.

Okay, I've googled myself sideways, but I can't find this anywhere. Someone please help!

LOUISIANA BLUES
by Muddy Waters

I'm going down in Louisiana, baby, behind the sun
I'm going down in Louisiana, honey, behind the sun
Well, you know I just found out my troubles just begun

I'm going down in New Orleans, hmmmh, get me a mojo hand
I'm going down in New Orleans, get me a mojo hand
(spoken aside by Little Walter) Aw, take me wit' ya when you go
I'm gonna show all you good looking women, just how to treat your man

(spoken) Let's go back to N'Orleans, boys

5. I found those lyrics,
but I couldn't find anywhere to listen to a sample. Does Muddy Waters have a female lead singer?

7. I don't know blues, but even I know that Muddy Waters is the name
of a singer, not a BAND!

Sorry.

4. btw, I was lying so as to get our hopes up. Then smash them down...
with my bloody knuckles.

Sorry I just woke up out of a drunken / pot induced coma and my headaches. But hey. At least I have a sense of humor.

8. Run the song title on allmusic.com
http://www.allmusic.com

Make sure to choose 'song' from the button bar beneath the search space, and run Louisiana Blues. I did, and got a British woman blues guitarist named Jo Ann Kelley (album is called 'Black Rat Swing'). Looks like the album was re-released recently, covering songs recorded in the sixties. The 2003 re-release is what made me think this might be it, since often re-releases come back into vogue on the radio again even when time has obscured them fairly well otherwise.

Allmusic is a great source for stuff like this, though you have to have at least a little information to work with (which you didn't, and you may already know about Allmusic).
