Dab nab it, I missed seeing John Kerry last night!

John Kerry made a campaign stop in Portland last night, accompanied by Howard Dean. I had planned on going when my wife reminded me, "How are you going to handle being in that crowd?" Good question. I have bouts of what I guess is social phobia, maybe it's social anxiety, I don't know, but I do know that being outside, among a crowd of thousands, causes extreme anxiety, to the point I have panic attacks. Oddly enough, it doesn't happen when I'm indoors. I'm disappointed, but who knows, Kerry may swing by here again. Maybe the next time he'll have a speech inside an auditorium somewhere.

All I heard was that he would be at the airport at 7:30. Which airport and where?

Their campaign manager missed media coverage in the state's largest market because NOBODY KNEW!!!

That's how I found out about the Kerry Portland visit, his campaign sent me an e-mail announcing the event. Lots of Portlanders showed up to see Kerry. Also on hand: actor Sean Astin, AKA Sam Gamgee from the movie trilogy Lord of The Rings, plus protesters.

I'm very careful about my e-mail list, but nothing was mentioned in the snail-mail letter I received from Kerry nor were the local TV stations informed beyond "He's here on a fund-raising" trip.

Sad that the largest city in my state could only turn out 400 Kerry supporters at his arrival becuse "only the media knew" and he didn't have detail one posted on his web-site.

I strongly suspect he needs better help in getting the message out and to the people....
