2. My house in Newton is still sitting on the market
and if I don't sell it pretty soon I won't be able to stay up here this winter and I really want to stay here. I hate the idea that some stranger, someone I don't even know, has my future in their hands. I hate the thought of having to take the dogs out of the country. I hate the thought of Boston this winter. There! Now I feel better.

3. Comercials that have nothing to do with the product!
Some, well most of the comercials I view of TV make no sense at all. It's nice to hear some of the old tunes again (ie...Journey, Beatles ect...)though.

4. The national team is losing
Bush is still in power.
My thread in GD sunk like a stone this morning.
The economy is still bad and I'm about to finish University.

5. I went to my mother's house
to get the blasterworm out of her computer for her. Some of the books that were lying around this time:

The Scarlet Lady: Confessions of a Successful Abortionist

Dereliction of Duty: An Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security

The Real Anita Hill: The Untold Story

As if that wasn't bad enough, as we were doing the chit-chat thing you do while you're trying to get out the door, she says, "Now the blacks & the hispanics are pumping out babies--who do you think's gonna be ruling this country?"

Is it possible to divorce one's parent? Just typing this out, I feel like a need a shower. :argh:

13. Comment to your mother what a great writer David Brock is!
David Brock wrote "The Real Anita Hill"

Tell her you'd be happy to go to the bookstore and buy her another one of his books. Get her excited that he has another book coming out soon and you'll buy that for her too! Sit back and enjoy!!!!

6. DU has been taken over by
a bunch of punks who come here to work off their aggression and add nothing to the discourse. I hate wading through their stupid threads to find something I can learn from. It used to be easy to come here to get educated. Now it's like wading through a swamp. Thanks for listening.

10. I second that! And ..
break it down into two categories:

Some people are disagreeable no matter what. Always pissing and moaning about something. Probably don't get along with people outside of DU either.

The other category is the one most frustrating to me and I seriously question their motives for being here. Topics started in an effort to deliberately stir the pot or start flame wars, with propaganda and out and out nonsense. These are not stupid people, yet countering with reason and fact does not sway their position. They are very manipulative, and smart enough to stay within the rules. Yet they are clearly disrupters.

11. A-freakin'-men to that
The quality of political discussion is really appalling on a lot of threads lately.

There seem to be a whole lot of folks posting who don't have the faintest idea what they're posting about. They don't know the sky is blue, they have a feeling it's plaid, because plaid just makes sense to them, and they aren't going to look out the window, because, well, they know the sky is plaid, so why bother looking out the window to check and see if the sky really isn't plaid? It is plaid. Duh.

It's one thing to do that if you're discussing personal matters ("I like pancakes but I don't like waffles". etc.) and another thing when you're discussing something that can be proven or disproven with very little research ("Arnold Schwartzeneger was born in Australia and is married to Martha Stewart so that makes him a liberal" etc.)

It's frustrating - - and sad.

7. I have a serious one - - the f*cking California recall
I am in the heart of L.A., theorhetically second or third most liberal spot in the country, and 98% of my coworkers think Arnold Schwartzeneger is The Answer to California's "crisis". I have heard more GOP spin points over the past week than I heard in the whole twelve years I was living in northern Minnesota.

And every time Arnold gives a press conference they turn the TV up so loud that all house pets in a three mile radius are struck deaf.

None of them want to f*ing pay one penny in taxes and they don't want a single service THEY use cut - - they want the budget balanced on the back of the homeless and Indian casinos (don't argue it with me, I know we don't have sovereignty over Indian lands, and these idiots don't care whether something is legally possible or not).

Last night I went to the grocery store and another paid signature gatherer was there, trying to get people to sign a petition that would financially penalize the Governor and every member of the state legislature for every day that they were late passing a budget. Another ballot measure bought and paid for by some rich Republican with no brains and more ego than the entire AMA.

F*ing Republicans are going to destroy this state, even though we're the 6th largest economy in the WORLD. Not that that will have any kind of ripple effect and make the entire world economy worse. Nope, no problem. It's all about proving those damn Democrats were wrong to promote the computer industry and hydrogen cars and other science fiction type stuff to grow the national economy. It's about turning California red in time for 2004 so that there is no way in Hell that Smirk can loose THAT election.

But let's all sit around and laugh because Gary Coleman and Gallagher are running for Governor. Ha ha ha ha ha another unconstitutional power grab by the Republicans. Isn't fascism just such a hoot?

8. I realise
that the incredibly impatient dude who was behind me at a Shoreline intersection this morning probably doesn't read DU. But on the off-chance that he, or someone just like him might:

Dude, I know you're in some fierce and awful hurry, and in all probability you ought to flag down one of those 2 police officers at the SBC on our left and get them to give you an escort to whatever emergency is causing you such anxiety. But I assure you my failure to move forward isn't personal or an intentional insult. It is the careful, studied acknowledgement that I'm driving a car with a 4-stroke engine and all the acceleration capabilities of igneous rock. If I take your 'polite advice,' I would be broadsided half-way through this intersection and you'll only be further delayed by the ensuing mess.
