Tonight's Simpsons was the best episode I've seen in a while

A completely scathing commentary on the climate of fear, irrational patriotism, and intimidation of dissenting voices that Bushco has created in this country.

My only question is, why did it take so long for an episode like this?

9. It was a parody of nationalist RWers... (spoiler)

...Bart "accidentally" mooned the US flag, which started a backlash against the Simpsons by a Tweety-like cable pundit, and everyone in Springfield. The Simpsons were arrested at church, and incarcerated at the Ronald Reagan Re-Education Center, along with Michael Moore, The Dixie Chicks, Bill Clinton and Elmo (from Sesame Street - the reason he was there was because "Elmo went to the wrong fundraiser...").

Long story short, they were deported to France, and then re-emigrated to the US...

Possibly the best Simpsons episode ever!

28. It was accidential. Everybody looked at the 'end' of the situation and

presumed Bart mooned the flag. (Bart was chiding a goat with a carrot, stuck the carrot in his pants, and the goat ate his pants. LOL!)

ANybody who doesn't like this episode is a repuke. This episode is outrageously delightful and accurate in its portrayal and that's got to be utterly scathing to repukes, especially Rupert Murdoch who'll likely oversee future episodes in the future.

Easily the best episode in years. One of the top 10, though its topical nature may render it somewhat obsolete in the future.

Bart ended up accidentally mooning the American flag when a donkey ate off his shorts during the national anthem at a donkey basketball game.

A local paper picks up the story and completely blows it out of proportion.

The Simpsons become pariahs, and an irrational wave of jingoism sweeps over Springfield. Mayor Quimby renames the town Libertyville and the price of everything becomes $17.76

When the Simpsons are in church, a SWAT team breaks in and arrests them for violating the "Government Knows Best Act." They are all imprisoned in Alcatraz along with Bill Clinton, Elmo, Michael Moore, the Dixie Chicks, and other left wing celebrities for "re-education."


My favorite lines:

When Bart moons the flag, the old redneck cowboy guy shouts:

"How dare you desecrate the flag that my grandaddy rebelled against!"

After Springfield takes its jingoistic turn, the church marquee reads:

"Is God Patriotic Enough?"

It's shot day and Bart tries to evade the needle. Dr. Hibbert manages to get the job done but Bart suffers a side effect of temporary hearing loss from the shot and he takes advantage of it for all it's worth. At Springfield Elementary the annual Donkey basketball tournament is being held. During the playing of The Star Spangled Banner Bart has his shorts eaten by a donkey, leaving his bare ass exposed towards the flag. Martin snaps a picture and everyone present is outraged at this behavior. As a result the Simpson family becomes very unpopular. They go on a cable news channel and only manage to dig themselves into a deeper hole when the host manages to twist Marge's words into saying that Springfield hates America. The negative publicity causes Mayor Quimby to change the name of the town to Liberty-Ville and they make everything patriotic. The family is arrested under violation of the "government knows best act" and they are brought to a reeducation center. The last registered Democrat tells them how they can escape. During their musical number they escape through a tunnel but find they were on Alcatraz. They are rescued by a passing French freighter and taken to France. After being there a while they decide they miss their life in America and go back as illegal immigrants.

15. The part that surprised me...

Everybody was upset about Bart mooning the flag, some character says something like, "that was very offensive, and I'm a vet of the Vietnam war, the only war we ever lost.

Some other character says something like,"yeah, well just wait a bit."

Oh, and when they escape the US, they use the exact same ploy the Von Trapp family uses to escape nazi Germany.

27. Tom Bernard HATED it

KQRS morning show dj with the IQ of -1. His show consists of toilet humor, commentary of news snippets (often not related to the mainstream news, but bigger mainstream news items get mentioned too), and interviewing guests then slamming them after they hang up (unless they're politically compatible, in which case these people they interview are the greatest people ever conceived.)

He used to be a Dem, but as his show became popular, he became more and more repuke.

Up until Wellstone's murder, he always said "I'm a Dem but I'm tired of what they're going" and so on. Now he's a puke who slanders Dems and gives repukes all the free airtime they want.

The episode is AWESOME. Tom Boatyard hates it because it speaks up against his political "mind"set.
