3. You're a Good Man

When my 6 year old son tells me that, every sterling performance review from every job I've ever had fades into nothing.

18. The nicest thing WAS said to me, last week.
A nicer, more sincere and heartfelt compliment I've never had.

It was from my boss - we'd been having a heart to heart and at one point I was explaining to him that I don't have as many friends as he seemed to think I did. The ones I have are AWESOME, but most people don't have the time or inclination to get into everything it takes to get to really know who I am.

Anyway, after all of this, he became emotionally overwhelmed and started tearing up. He said to me - "That is so hard for me to believe, Jennifer. After knowing you, I don't understand how anyone *couldn't* love you."

:wow:

It was even more amazing because this guy is not known for his showing of emotion, or being that completely open, with anyone. The next day he was quite embarrassed, but I smoothed it over. I'm not sure what embarrassed him more, that he cried, or that he allowed the fortress he hides behind to slip long enough to bust out with a statement from the heart he normally wouldn't have been caught dead saying.

That was the *best* compliment, ever.

19. That's really sweet.
Sometimes the best compliments are from people you don't expect them from.

I am an employment counselor, and everyday, I deal with people under a great deal of stress... people afraid of losing their homes, and those who actually have, for example. So many times, someone has met with me, taken out their frustrations on me, and I have responded by trying my very best to help them find work, edit their resume, or find a social service agency that can provide them with assistance. I have had several people hug me and cry, and tell me that no one else has helped them as much as I have. They are what make me want to wake up in the morning and keep doing what I do.

21. "May I see some ID please"....
Every few months my local grocery will make their new cashiers check EVERYONE'S ID who's buying beer. Really gives me a rush to be asked! For Christ's sake, I'm 50! (been told I don't look a day over 48)

Don't worry about taking you're exams, we'll give you a First just 'cos you're a star.

Otherwise, it'd be my girlfriend saying "Hello" whilst holding me. Damn it, but I really miss her!
