I remember in the 70s, people used this line in reference to Nixon. Seems appropriate again. ------------------------------
While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have To stand naked.

They also used to say:
Nixon pull out, like your father should have.

That as a slogan people used to say before Nixon pulled the troops out of Vietnam. The people made a difference in that war---let's hope the same will happen with this one.

but you don't see the same kind of activism and rallies like you did back then or maybe I just don't know about them.
I hope we get out of Iraq soon but I still have mixed emotions about whether or not we can completely 'pull-out' pardon the pun.

We wrecked Iraq, we have an obligation to those people to try and make it right. The thing that bothers me, though, is I'm not sure they want us to help them make it right. I fear that in their eyes we have lost our credibility to such an extent that they would rather face chaos than accept our help.
As far as activism and rallies--we didn't have the Internet back then. It's a powerful tool for activism.

That's why we should leave.
But then if we pull out, the US will look like a failure again. First there were no WMD's then we couldn't even bring peace, even after spending 100 billion and counting on that 'project'.

It takes a wise leader and a wise populace to place the well being of their young men and women above their own pride. Let's hope we can get to that place.

Bob Dylan, Bob Dobbs of the Church of the SubGenius, or Bob from the "Wondering What's Bothering Bob" Ford ad from the 50's.

The name of the song is It's Allright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding). Vintage protest Dylan.
