ZW's Lost Classics Vol. 1: ZZ Top's "Tejas"
This 1976 gem should only be owned/listened to on VINYL (and if you don't have a turntable, why?). Y'see, back in the late 80's, Top reissued their 70's albums on CD with a 'contemporary' remix sound. Fuck that! The only way to enjoy unknown greats like "El Diablo" (with Frank Beard playing some seriously atmospheric drums) or the anti-drunk-driving anthem "Arrested For Driving While Blind" is on vinyl.

I used to win beer money back in college by playing the album's closing piece "Asleep In The Desert" and betting the listener could NOT guess who it was. It's a solo instrumental acoustic guitar piece played Spanish-style. It's so far from what one expects of a Top album. It was the first to feature a CLEAN blues guitar sound, rather than the heavy distortion Billy Gibbons was well-known for. It's damn cool, and this unapologetic Top fan recommends this lost classic of the 70's!
