Not sure how much talent she has, but if you check Liberalartists.com, there's a good article about how she's following in her mom's liberal footsteps. That combined with her sexiness makes her a great choice for young men like me. I disagree about Shania being a no-talent (nice reedy voice and it takes talent to write some interestingly catchy songs,) but that's for another topic.

After all she is from Canada. In general they are more open minded and liberal and she lives in Switzerland now. The Dixie Chicks were more likely to be repuke but surprisingly they spoke out quite bravely against Shrub well over a year ago (paid a price for it). And now it turns out that they were right....

| 14. Yeah I thought the whole Natalie Maines flap was interesting |
|
She is actually a pretty conservative person...probably more of a DLC Dem than anything. She was on Politically Incorrect a year or so before arguing that marijuana should still be illegal, and that the drug war was just.
Then she came out against the war, but her reasons were really interesting and ones that I would have thought conservatives could have cut her slack on. She said that as a mother she couldn't stand the notion of the innocent children dying. I've known ALOT of mothers who were usually conservative say this.
But the freepers went all up in arms over it....f'n morans.

This is not because of their anti-chimp comments I say this, but because of their background. Natalie's father is Lloyd Maines, who played guitar for Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, and Joe Ely both with The Flatlanders and their solo albums. Those guys are old-school leftists in the Woody Guthrie tradition (Gilmore is country's only practicing Buddhist, and studied under Allen Ginsberg).
Son, it is never a good idea to jump to easy conclusions when it comes to country music and politics. Please do a little research before making hasty judgments. Natalie grew up in a more progressive household than 99% of DUers.

I went to see the Monkees as often as I possibly could. However, in 1991 I read where Micky supported the first Gulf War and I put down my Monkees records and put away my VHS tapes.
I don't know how he feels about the current Bush war. I suspect hes a pug though.
Kind of took away the illusion. I still think he was gorgeous in the 1960s, although he has not aged well.

and it didn't quite reach crush-level intensity. But during the Afghanistan war, there were a few days when I said to myself, "Uh-huh, I can see why Rumsfeld is turning into a stud-muffin figure for women in the older crowd like me."
It didn't last, though. 99.5% of the time I just look at him as one of the thugs whom we need to throw out of office.
OT, the Big Dog has been a long-time fantasy crush figure for me, and I'm not a bit ashamed of that!

ever since seeing Flashdance. Despite the corn in that movie. I think it's her sparkling doe-eye stare. And I saw her on TV recently -- she still looks the same now as she did in the mid-80s.
My much greater crush on Halle Berry I am not at all ashamed of. I became aware of her while watching The Flintstones movie with my daughter (about six at that time) and suddenly realizing my heart was racing. Halle gave probably her best performance in Gothika (which I thought was greatly underrated), and is much more beautiful with the long hair.
