1. We're on the 1990/2007 schedule here...
I was a camp counselor in 1990, and the kids (elementary school age) fell into one of two categories -- deathly afraid of the cicadas, or absolutely enjoying crunching up their shells, pulling the wings off dead ones (and sometimes live ones), etc.

2. The problem with these kids might not be the cicadas
"We had a stab wound to the arm from a kid who was trying to kill a cicada on the arm of another child but unfortunately he was using a knife," Baker added.

"Another kid tried to kick one under a lawn mower and cut his foot, and we saw a crush injury to the hand when a kid tried to put a cicada under the wheels of a moving car."

3. I Believe You Are Correct... WARNING: Keep Stupid Kids Inside
and away from other children and sharp objects and heavy machinery.

-- Allen

And where was the RESPONSIBLE ADULT who was operating this lawn mower?? And why didn't this adult CLEAR THE AREA of children and pets before mowing? Just asking.

4. "They climb out of their underground homes...
... after 17 years of slow development with only one goal in mind: To find a mate."

Sounds like Spring Break to ME!
