A man woke up about 9 a.m. Friday morning to find the subject of a Broward Sheriff's Office manhunt hiding in his house, a Sheriff's Office spokesman said.
The resident, Edwin Escoboza, 26, walked outside, flagged down a deputy and told him the suspect was inside. Deputies went in and found Luis A. Castillo, 22, hiding in a shower. Castillo was arrested and charged with burglary and battery, spokesman Hugh Graf said.
Deputies had been searching door to door for the suspect since 5 a.m. when he broke into Lee Sullivan and Joseph Murdico's home in the 1900 block of Northeast 48th Court of unincorporated Pompano. The man stole Sullivan's purse, touched her as she slept and ran out of the house, Murdico said.
Deputies were beginning to fear that the suspect had gotten away when Escoboza, who lives in the 1500 block of Northeast 46th St., flagged them down. Castillo reportedly told Escoboza deputies were looking for him because he'd hit his wife and asked Escoboza to hide him, Graf said.
