Favorite Simpsons episode
For me, the one where Burns puts Smithers on "leave" to de-stress and Smithers has Homer take over his position as personal assistant.

Unfortunately, the syndicated version cuts out Homer's classic reaction to learning that Burns had never forgiven his mother for having an affair with President Taft.

14. Homer reaction
Smithers: Burns has never forgiven his mother for that affair with President Taft.

Homer: (eyes half closed and grining) chuckles -"Heh, heh, heh. Taft. You old dog!"

They go to the next scene right after Smithers is finished talking. I don't know. It probably views better than it reads but the voicing by Dan is just great.

3. Homer as the union boss
I love the bit when he visits Burns Manor to talk. That's the part when Homer has to pee really bad and there's whole slew of potty jokes. Also, this is the episode when Lisa needs braces (the Big Book of British Smiles makes it's only appearance!).

26. I wish I could find my favorites in the episode guides
But I don't know which season they were in or which episodes they were.

I have two favorites too:

The B-Sharps, whre they parodied the entire Beatles oeuvre. George Harrison made a brief appearance at the end. There was a rooftop concert with the B-Sharps, and George leans out of a limo window and says, "It's been done."

The sushi episode where Homers eats fugu and thinks he has 24 hours to live. "Poison...poison...tasty fish!!"

12. "1900" House
The Simpsons are forced to find a place to live after their house was exterminated for bugs. They end up appearing on a reality show where they have to live in a house from the yesr 1900. Guest star David Lander (as Squiggy from "Laverne and Shirley") shows up (to boost the show's sagging ratings). Hilarity DOES ensue in my favorite episode.

24. the one with the divorced neighbor who moves in with her daughter
Moe: "Barney, wach the bar!"
Barney" "Okay"
Moe: "and don't steal any beer!"
Barney: "What do think I am some kind of pathetic drunk?.... HEY, SOMEONE SPILLED BEER IN THIS ASHTRAY" (Slurps ashy beer).

Bart dressed as Hugh Heffner with the bubbble pipe was a classic image too.

The others that I alway watch in rerun:

The one where homer works for Hank Scorpio at Globex corporation.
The one where bart writes love letters to Mrs. Krabapple (Strap on your skates Gordy, you're going in)...
The one where Marge has the nervous breakdown and goes to Rancho Relaxo (you can't spell RELAXO without RELAX)
The one where Homer starts the vigilante posse
The one where Homer allegedly sexually harrasses the babysittter (Mothers and Daughters reuinited by their hatred of Homer Simpson, today on Ben... the only talk show hosted by a giant bear).
The one where Homer borrows the mortgage payment from Patty and Selma and becomes their slave.
The one where Homer buys the snowplow (Mr. Plow, that's my name, my name again is Mr. Plow)
The one where Bart becomes the hall monitor and brings fascism to the school.
The one where Homer eats the rotten sandwich and Selma takes the kids to Duff Gardens (Homerclese cares not for beans!)

31. CLOWN COLLEGE
In the middle of driving down the highway, Homer skids to a halt in front of a billboard.

Homer: (gasps) It must be the first of the month: new billboard day! (a car-carrying truck stops behind him) (a bunch of cars drive onto it accidentally)

Driver: Heh heh heh...finders keepers. (drives off)

Homer: (reading) "This year, give her English muffins." Whatever you
say, Mr. Billboard! (skids off) (stops suddenly at another billboard for barbeque sauce) (cars collide behind him and explode)

Homer: (reading) "Best in the West." Heh heh heh, that rhymes! (looking at the next one) "Clown college"? You can't eat that.
. . .
Krusty: All right, now there can only be one Krusty in each territory, so I hope this works out. Tell me where you're from.

Man 1: Georgia.

Texan 1: Texas.

Texan 2: Uh, Brooklyn.

Man 2: Russia.

Man 3: New Hampshire.

Homer: Homer.

40. There are way too many but here goes
The Duff Gardens one was funny (Just six more inches and I can fit it in the 'fridge!)

The B-Sharps ('cause I'm a Beatles fan).

The one where Sideshow Bob tries to kill Bart (OK, the one where he sends threatening mail from prison and has DIE BART DIE on his chest That one is particularly funny for the scene when Marge goes to Chief Wiggum about the threatening letters and she points out that there is a law against such a things and he says, "Whaddaya know. It's also against the law to put squirrels down your pants for the purposes of gambling. All right boys, knock it off!" And the SB sings the entire score from HMS Pinafore.)

Frank Grimes

The history lesson (Odysseus, Joan of Arc, Hamlet, with Ralph Wiggum as Laertes "Here's my mad face. grrrrr."
