Philadelphia music legend John Whitehead was gunned down in broad daylight Tuesday, and now police say they don't think he was the target of the shooters.
Whitehead, 55, and his partner, Gene McFadden, had a No. 1 hit with the song, "Ain't No Stopping Us Now," which was the official theme song for the Philadelphia Phillies during their run for the World Series in the 80s.
Philadelphia police are trying to find the gunman who shot Whitehead in the neck, killing him, and injured family friend Ohmed Johnson while they were working on Whitehead's sport utility vehicle near his home on West Oak Lane in Philadelphia. Police said they are looking for at least two men in connection with the murder.
Whitehead was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime. Johnson, 20, was transferred to Einstein Medical Center with several gunshot wounds. He remains hospitalized.
