City Declares "No Communist" Zone

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Southern California city known as "Little Saigon" because of its large Vietnamese population has become the first U.S. city to declare itself a "no Communist" zone.

The city council in Garden Grove, about 30 miles south of Los Angeles, passed a resolution on Tuesday saying it "does not welcome, or sanction high-profile visits, drive-bys or stopovers by members or officials of the Vietnamese Communist government."

The resolution, passed to cheers from a crowd of about 200 Vietnamese residents, also urged city officials to refrain from "initiating engagements with or facilitating" visits by Vietnamese Communists.

I was actually about to post this as serious news! This should be right up Bush*'s alley: "We love America. Just keep that nasty First Amendment away from us!" </sarcasm>

Garden Grove, by the way, is in The O.C. And NSMA wonders why I have a tendency to come down just a teensy little bit hard on her home at times...

Photoshop geeks: This should be a simple task: A "No Communist Zone" sign consisting of the hammer-and-sickle logo surrounded by the universal circle and slash.

How do they propose to enforce this, anyway? Proletarian-sniffing (running?) dogs at the city limits? Hand-held Marxism-Leninism detectors??
