Internet Explorer Question
Does anybody know how to permenantly get rid of the folder called "links" in your list of favorites. I try to delete it but it keeps coming back. Not a big deal just a minor annoyance.

Thanks DU!

1. Probably can't delete the folder
But you can delete the individual links in the folder. I deleted mine.

2. system folder
not deletable that I know of.

You don't have to show it on your menu bar if you don't want, but that is its strengh.

I keep frequent sites right on my visible menu as buttons by activating the Links menu in view/toolbars/links that puts the links in buttons.

by the way you can delete all the links, just not the folder.

3. It sounds like a spyware problem.
You can go to your registry and look to delete there, but that can be dicey. Try clicking a link or a desktop icon that keeps coming back too. They should tell you how to uninstall.

Try spybot or other spyware delete programs.

Good luck.

p.s. it will not go away on it's own. some do, but this one sounds insidious.

4. You can't delete it, but you can HIDE it...
If you delete it, it just gets recreated next time you start IE. Try this...

1. Click "Favorites", then right-click "Links"

2. Click "Explore"

3. In the Windows Explorer folders list, right-click the "Links" folder.

4. Click "Properties"

5. Put a check in the "Hidden" box, then click OK

6. Exit and restart IE. The "Links" folder should be gone from underneath "Favorites."

5. Here's a three-step procedure:
1) dump Explorer;
