Anybody live near NASCAR track?
Like within 5 miles of so?
A group of investors are trying for one near me.
I don't think I like the sound of this.
(pun intended)

4. Good Map of Nascar Tracks in the US

There's interest in putting one north of Seattle - currently we are about as far away from the nearest NASCAR tracks as you can get.

5. As a crow flies I live about 3 miles from one (funny story)
I used to live in a walk up (hell I've always lived in walk ups) on the third floor. On a Wednesday night I was well lets say I was feeling REALLY good and I hear there terrible noise. IT sounded like a huge engine but it was getting closer and it wasn't getting further away. I couldn't figure it out and told a friend about it, he had a client who had just gotten home from a business trip the same night went out on his back porch to have a beer and heard the same thing. He lived around the corner on the next street ($500,000 homes compared to my crappy apartment) and this guy figured out what it was.

It was the "pickup truck" truck racing series that they hold on Wednesday night. I still live about the same distance from RIR but I have never heard it again, maybe the conditions were just right that one night.

6. I live less than 5 miles from RIR
in Richmond, Virginia. There are only two races a year, and the rest of the time the site is used as a fairground. I really can't say that it has affected me in any way except on race weekends. We try to get out of town during those weekends, because the traffic pattern goes right by our neighborhood and we are literally trapped for large stretches of time. Otherwise, you CAN hear the noise from the track, but only those two times per year and a random training session or two in the weeks leading up to it.

Its no big deal, a few weekends a year of traffic. just plan for it. My friend makes tons of money selling parking spots on his property.

9. Cripes, If those Neckcar drivers want to race at another venue...

Just go to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. Four Miles of real racing, you know the type where you actually have to turn right as well as left.

12. They don't run at Road Atlanta either
And what's wrong with street racing? They've been racing in the streets in Monaco since the car was invented.

15. The road courses are
Watkins Glen International Raceway, Watkins Glen, NY, and Infineon Raceway at Sears Point, CA.

Not Road America and not Road Atlanta.

They don't even run the road course at Daytona, and that would be a good one to do since they already hit Daytona twice a year anyway--do the 500 on the oval and the Firecracker 400 on the road course. That track is already lit because they run a 24-hour endurance race on it, so running at night wouldn't be a great problem.
