The absinthe we can may in fact have more thujone than 19th century absinthe...

Keep in mind though, this shit is bottled at 68% alc/vol
so I'm not sure if it's the booze or the wormwood.

any harm that was thought to have been caused by drinking absinthe shortly before it was outlawed, was likely caused by ordinary alcoholism, and not because of Thujone, it's active ingredient. Absinthe has a high alcohol content, and was cheap for people to drink at the time in 19th century France. Sometimes to enhance the green color naturally occurring in the plants in the spirit, distillers would add chemicals, which may also have caused adverse health problems...

wormwood in grape-based alcohol along with 22 different herbs. It tastes like anisette, or black licorice.

You pour a shot in a glass, place a slotted absinthe spoon on top of the glass, place a sugar cube on top of that, then pour iced water over the sugar cube and watch the liquid turn from green to pale milky white (called louching)...

38. I've had it once

drank it with a friend, his parents changed the labels on a bunch of bottles and brought it back from Europe stached in a big case of wine.

We just downed the stuff and hung out for a bunch of hours. The one thing I remember the most was the giant purple stuffed puppy dog that one of the trees turned into.
